More dramas follow the Creation AIM #14 in this 76th running of the Le Mans 24 Hours. After only a couple of laps into his first stint (at approximately 7.15 pm local time) Johnny Mowlem suffers yet another puncture, this one spinning him into the wall without mercy. The Englishman brings the car back into the pits and the team set to work on repairs.
After some 30 minutes the gold and blue Creation AIM emerges from the pits and rejoins the track. Then after just an out-and-in lap, Mowlem complains of a serious vibration from the front. Also the team discover that a rear wing upright is broken, so the car is wheeled back into the pits where Marc Goossens takes up the story "When we went back out Johnny had a bad vibration and it turned out to be a problem with the front splitter. The team are working so hard and its a shame this has happened after the events of this week, but they are trying really hard to get the car in good shape to race. But its not over yet, there are 18 hours to go".
After over an hour and some 18 laps lost, Mowlem re-took to the track, 19th in class, in a somewhat patched up Creation AIM. At the time of writing we are now in 46th position with a mountain to climb...
The 'sister' Autocon Creation after some transmission troubles is currently running in 39th place having completed 79 laps.
NB: Johnny is lapping around the 3 minutes 40 mark which is on par with our earlier laps in the race. That suggests that the car is handling ok.
