CREATION AIM FINISHES THE 76TH LE MANS 24 HOURS

After an incredibly hard race, the #14 Creation AIM of Stuart Hall, Marc Goossens and Johnny Mowlem crossed the finish line at Le Mans this afternoon. Guts and determination from the whole team made this finish possible. We are classified as 24th overall, 11th in LMP1 class. We completed 316 laps.

Thanks to Mr Suzuki and all at AIM, and to all of our partners and supporters around the world for keeping this effort alive.

Our congratulations go to Audi for their 8th successive Le Mans 24 hours victory, and a special pat on the back for a superb drive to second place by 'our boy on loan' Nic Minassian.

Sunday Morning - Afternoon,
Le Mans

Le Mans - 10 am to the flag

Here we are, still going with 5 hours to go to the finish of the race, that's basically the full distance of a normal Le Mans series 1000 kms race. Johnny put in a solid stint and handed over to Marc, who basically did the same, maintaining the 'status quo' and holding on to the 24th place.

Sunday Morning,
Le Mans

Le Mans - 08.00 - 10.00 am (CET)

More of the same...

After an accomplished double stint in less than easy conditions, Stuart Hall handed the Creation AIM over to Johnny Mowlem who is in the midst of completing a stint and the car's 258th lap.

Sunday Morning,
Le Mans

Le Mans - 06.00-08.00 am (CET)

More progress made...

After taking over the reigns of the Creation AIM at around 06.30 am Stuart Hall set about continuing the good work. Determination and consistency pays off here at Le Mans, and also some slick pit work and luck helps.

Sunday Morning,
Le Mans

Le Mans - 04.00-06.00 (4am-6am CET)

The recovery continues...

The last 2 hours have seen us climb steadily up from P32 to P29 overall, and 13th in class. Marc Goossens has been a rock for the team. He is on a double stint, bringing the Creation AIM through the steady rain, from darkness to dawn. At just about 05.30 am he leapfrogged the Dome which was in the box with an engine problem, to take 29th.

Saturday Night - Sunday Morning,
Le mans

Le Mans Hours 23.00-04.00am (11pm-4am CET)

Steady progress...

All three drivers have been hard at work making progress through the field. At the time of writing we have completed 170 laps and it looks like rain is looming on the horizon.

Saturday Evening,
Le mans

Le Mans-hours 21-23 pm (9-11 PM CET)

Normal service Resumed...

With firstly Johnny Mowlem finishing his stint, and then Marc Goossens back at the wheel the Creation AIM boys began climbing their way back into the race. Marc completed to 100th lap at 10.48pm on his way through a double stint. Marc settled into lapping on average 3.47's which he said are quite comfortable to achieve.

Saturday Evening,
Le mans

Le Mans - 19.00-21.00 (7-9 pm CET)

More dramas follow the Creation AIM #14 in this 76th running of the Le Mans 24 Hours. After only a couple of laps into his first stint (at approximately 7.15 pm local time) Johnny Mowlem suffers yet another puncture, this one spinning him into the wall without mercy. The Englishman brings the car back into the pits and the team set to work on repairs.

Saturday Afternoon,
Le mans

Le Mans - 3rd and 4th hours - 17.00-19.00 (5-7 pm CET)

After making a good start to his first stint in the race, cruel luck followed Stuart Hall again. He picked up a puncture to the left rear tyre. Although losing laps, and our comfortable 15th place, sensibly the British driver crept back to the pits, thus minimising the damage to the car's rear deck. The only damage visible was to the car's rear floor but that was very small. The mechanics quickly replaced all 4 tyres and refueled the car, sending stuart back out very quickly.

Though rejoining in 36th place Stuart knuckled down to setting some very good times, and benefitted from the process, eventually handing the car over to Johnny Mowlem to make his first laps in the 76th running of this great race. Mowlem continued the trend, and at the time of writing (just after 7pm CET) he is running in 26th position. The long climb has begun!

Next report soon...

Le Mans - 1st and 2nd hours - 15.00-17.00 pm (CET)

In front of 250.000 fans and with the world watching on TV Marc Goossens (Belgium and North Carolina USA) made a cautious start in the Creation AIM CA07 from 21st, our qualifying position. He made very good progress through his opening stint, eventually handing over the car to Stuart Hall in a comfortable 15th place.
